Visible Image Sunday Play~"Bonkers" Mad Hatter!

Happy Sunday!

This week at Visible Image we are celebrating the theatrical release of Alice Through the Looking Glass and playing with some Visible Image mad Alice stamps! There is a Totally Bonkers sale on the Alice stamps, too. Get them while you can, the sale is in the last few hours...

For my DT creation I went mad with the Mad Hatter and MDF Monolith!

This is the awesome Mad Hatter stamp. I took some creative liberty with the sentiment :P
The shattered background is from the How Fragile We Are set.
I used DecoArt Modeling Paste with a Dyan Reavely checkered stencil.
The MDF is painted with black gesso and black DecoArt Fluid Acrylic,
I needed it to be rich and shiny :)

Detail of the front side

Flip side of the monolith using DecoArt Black modeling paste on white stock.
I used my new favorite stamp, Trust Your Madness, that smiley face is wicked great!

Close up of the flip side.

All stamped with Distress Embossing Ink and
WOW Opaque Bright White heat embossing powder.

Have a fabulous mad day!

Country View Challeges~Guest DT!!~Use a Stencil

Hi!

Happy Day today!! I am a Guest Designer at Country View Challenges this month and I am so happy and nervous!

The theme of the challenge over there is to use a stencil, so that is one of my favorite things to do so that was really awesome!  Hope you can hop over and check it out!

This is the project I made to share. Hope you like it. I combined all the things I love to play with, DecoArt colors and modeling paste, butterflies and lots of texture! Give me color and texture and I am happy for days :)

Click each photo to see it a bit bigger.

I started off with a plaque I found at the dollar store that had some silly saying on it, but the best part is it had ribbon attached already for a hanger, could not pass it up. I used a heavy layer of gesso to cover the base.

Using some awesome bright DecoArt Fluid Acrylics and Americana Satin, I finger painted on top of the white gesso base. Once dry more fun! Using a Heidi Swapp lattice stencil, I applied some DecoArt Crackle Paste. I loved how this dried and I adore the cracks it makes! So.... of course I had to smear the rest of the canvas with more crackle paste!

I used a Dyan Reaveley Dylusions Bubble stencil with regular modeling paste for the dots. While wet, I covered it in bronze embossing powder. Then heat embossed it for more shine and texture.

The butterfly is a Tim Holtz die and embossing folder combo which I adore. The trellis is also Holtz cut from his Idea-ology Texture Papers pack. The flowers and green vine are Sizzix dies.

I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze Fine Glitter Paint in blue Island Spring along the edges and on some crackle areas simply because I love that blue :)

Have a wonderful day and don't forget to check out the Country View Challenge!

I am also playing along with the Anything But Cute #13 Challenge and celebrating their one year anniversary! Fabulous! The theme at Anything But Cute is to Celebrate Your Style. Still a few days to play, too!

Visible Image~Sunday Play~Folder "Dream"

Hello!

Happy Sunday!

Today for my Visible Image Sunday Play post, I have made an arty tag from a piece of a file folder. I never throw away my crafty scraps and this was a left-over from another project and I am happy it found its forever home :)

Here we go!

Click to see each picture a bit bigger, thanks! I am really happy with how this one turned out, hope you enjoy it, too!

The focal image is my favorite Visible Image stamp
from my DT stash, Flower INKognito.
I stamped it onto black cardstock and
heat embossed it with WOW Opaque Bright White.

The background is one I made by using
my homemade gelatin plate and layered up
 with various stencils,
paint stamping with bubble wrap and bottle caps/lids.
The smaller Flower INKognito is from
Craft Stamper Magazine April 2016 edition. I was happy to find
a copy just to get this stamp! It is a perfect size for background and smaller areas.

The sentiment, file folder label is DREAM
from the Image Dream Inspire Visible Image stamp set.

Everything is adhered with DecoArt Matte Medium. I edged the 'tag' with black Staz-On.

Have a brilliantly fun day!

Lost Coast Designs~ New Challenge Splash of Bright Color/Neon~ATC

Hello :)

Today begins a brand new challenge for Lost Coast Designs at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity. The theme is add a splash of bright color or neon, go crazy and have fun, make sure to add some rubber stamping!

I made a funky ATC using the Mini Cracked Critters stamp from my DT stash.

Click to see a bit bigger :)

I added some DecoArt modeling paste to the background using some stencils. The bronze bubbles were over heat embossed to make them extra bumpity :) My mini cracked fish(?) was colored with Inktense pencils and water brush.

Have a great day and hope you can make some time to play!

STAMPlorations Mixed Media Challenge~Stencil Sunday~New Challenge

Happy Sunday!

I am back again with my third post of the day, yay!

See my earlier ones HERE and HERE, you really make me smile when you visit, hugs!

Today starts a brand new mixed media challenge over on the STAMPloration's blog! The theme is always Anything Goes, add a Stencil.

Today I wanted to share my design team project using lots of DecoArt Media products and lots of stencil goodness from STAMPlorations ARTplorations stencil line.

I had a lot of fun with this wood canvas. It is a play I have done using my DecoArt Blogger Outreach stash for a technique I have seen a lot of online, not wax Encaustic, but using Matte Medium for the layers of translucent magic.

I used the stencil Square Links with modeling paste for the crosses on the base layer in Americana Chartreuse along with some tape and paper scraps. Letting each payer dry, I slowly built up more layers using more paint through stencils, Retro Circles and some splatters.

The "daisy" was made using the Merry Go Round stencil and some pen doodling. On the top layer I added the butterfly from the Flutterby stecnil in DecoArt Crackle Paste.

I stamped the words on a book page using the Trendy Butterflies stamp set. I used more matte medium to attach the words and cover the entire surface to blend it into the background.

This is really a fun technique and I can't wait to play more! Hope you get your mixed media mojo going and play along with our challenge!

See ya soon!

Visible Image Sunday Play~"Take Your Broken Wings" Art Tag

Hello and Happy May First!

Lots going on this month and this is the first of three posts from me today! yikes! It's a perfect storm of the first of the month and my Sunday play days, hope you can come back later on to see more :)

First up is my Visible Image project which I tried to create a vintage feel to accompany the wonderful, "Learn to Fly Again" stamp set.

I layered some DecoArt Matte Medium image transfer along with some DecoArt Crackle Paste to frame the fabulous hand stamped birds and sentiment. Over the crackle paste I applied some DecoArt Rose Gold Metallic Lustre paste for the wonderful shine.

There is a small blue layer using Butterfly INKognito's wonderful dots, you know
I had to work in dots, right? Dots make me happy :)

Have a wonderful day!
hugs,
~kim
